Appointed by his Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, Sultan of Oman, in accordance with Sultani Decree #29/2019 as a member of the Omani Human Rights Commission for the fourth period from 2019-2021. She is an Omani lawyer licensed before the Supreme Court of the Sultanate of Oman and equivalent & serves as Vice Chairperson of the Committee regulating Labor market in Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Maimuna is the first female legal advisor to be appointed in the private sector as a leader to head a legal department in 2009 and the first Omani ever to be included in the UK’s legal 500 amongst the top legal 100 counsels in the Middle East in 2015 and the first Omani academic lecturer to teach law at Sultan Qaboos University since 2004 and licensed as an compliance officer since 2006.

She obtained her legal experience through her postgraduate studies at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom in 2004 and her undergraduate studies at the university of Jordan in 1999. Maimuna is an editor and anchor att Oman television program called “Rights Reserved” and a legal radio program in English.

As a lawyer, Maimuna manages her own law firm in the field of trade and settlement. She is the editor in chief of Law and Life magazine and Black and White magazine. She is also a famous Omani figure in legal training and awareness raising for the community in the Sultanate of Oman and the Arabian Gulf.
