Giovanni Angiolini is General Manager Middle East for Priva, a leading high-tech company in
horticulture and building automation that develops hardware, software and services in the
field of climate control, energy saving and optimal reuse of water. Based in the company’s
regional headquarters in Dubai, Giovanni leads the group’s operations in the Middle East,
one of the key growth markets for the business.
In addition to his role at Priva, Giovanni is the founder of Trapital, an independent
consultanty firm based in the Netherlands, specialized in global risk management and
Middle Eastern affairs.
Prior to joining Priva in July 2021, Giovanni supported the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign
Affairs with the design and development of the programming for the Food cluster, as part of
the Netherlands Pavilion during Expo 2020 Dubai. In addition, he worked with the
Netherlands Enterprise Agency, part of the Ministry, and Dutch Greenhouse Delta, an

association representing Dutch horticulture, on the development of the strategy for a three-
year public-private initiative to position Dutch horticultural companies in the Gulf region.

During this time, Giovanni moderated numerous virtual, hybrid and live events and
programmes on food security, water scarcity and smart building in horticulture.
His appointment at Priva gave Giovanni the opportunity to return to the Gulf region, where
he was previously based for twelve years over the period 2004 -2016. Over these years
Giovanni held several senior management positions in international media companies in the
United Arab Emirates, including Middle East Economic Digest (MEED), The Economist and
ITP Media Group. In addition, Giovanni was an active member of the business community in
the UAE and served as board member and Chairman of The Netherlands Business Council in
Dubai and the Northern Emirates for several years, representing Dutch businesses in the
UAE. Giovanni is married and has two children, Lucia and Sandro.
